If your surgery is later, be sure to fast for at least 8 hours, and you can eat a very light breakfast (just fruit and water) well in advance. During the first 3 to 5 days, it's normal to experience some discomfort, but this will gradually decrease. Read your instructions carefully, as they address many common questions.
