PRIOR TO SURGERY
It is important that the night before surgery, your last meal takes place before 10:00 p.m., if your surgery is in the morning.
If your surgery is later, you will have to fast for at least 8 hours before your procedure. In that case, calculate the number of hours, so that you have breakfast very early, just a piece of fruit and water. Having fulfilled those 8 hours of not eating, you will arrive in total fasting as is correct. From this moment you will not even be able to drink water.
It is important to refrain from smoking and drinking alcoholic beverages 15 days before the procedure. Also for the same period of time it is important not to take aspirin, since it can prolong bleeding during surgery.
Prepare a suitcase with comfortable or sports clothes with which you can leave the clinic after your surgery (remember to wear tennis shoes or comfortable shoes). If necessary, it is necessary to shave the area that is going to be operated on, thus making it easier for the surgeon to do a clean job.
It is necessary to present yourself with unpainted nails, without makeup, creams or deodorant. The only necessary personal hygiene care on the day of surgery is tooth brushing or oral hygiene.
DAY OF SURGERY
The SIRONA hospital reception staff will welcome you, introduce yourself by name and tell them that you are scheduled for surgery by ENSTHETICS. We will make an appointment 1 hour before your surgery to carry out laboratories and preparation. It is important to arrive at the agreed time on the day of your appointment. Some patients already have their laboratory studies in advance and it is not necessary to repeat them if they are less than 3 months old. It is important to take copies of your laboratories to be attached to your medical file. Sometimes there are previous surgeries taking place in the operating room, and it is possible that your surgery may start later than planned, we ask for your patience as everything is in order and your procedure will begin soon.
The nursing staff will ask you to remove all your clothing and put on a patient gown. In some surgeries, bandages will be placed on the legs, this is nursing protocol. Remember that we will take pictures of the area to operate. This sometimes includes being naked on camera and can be embarrassing for some patients. Remember that these photographs are necessary for your medical history and will be treated with absolute discretion and prudence.
Some patients want to keep a graphic or video memory of their surgery. If you wish to be photographed, video recorded or published on the internet, you must give your verbal authorization and notify the surgeon directly.
They will ask you to sign some documents, these are authorizations or informed consents, which are part of the legal process of authorization of the patient for the surgery process. You must also sign a companion or witness who goes with you. A venous catheter will be placed in your hand or arm, through which all medications will be administered. Finally, your history or medical record will begin to be filled out, the staff will ask you some questions of a personal nature that must be filled out truthfully so that the information provided is useful.
Payment for the surgery must be made before entering the operating room. This can be delivered directly to the medical assistant or doctor. Since we have had problems with some credit cards in the United States, we suggest you bring your payment in cash. This will help in the process of hospitalization and payment of fees to health and hospital personnel. Remember that the laboratories, your belt and medications are included in the total cost. If you have any doubts or questions about the procedure, do not hesitate to ask the staff or your surgeon, they will start the surgery process shortly and everything will go very well. Congratulations!
